Howard's Drug originally opened in 1958 with Jean and Jewell Howard (hence the name Howard's). Dave Thome, our current owner, was a pharmacist immediately out of pharmacy school in the 1960's. It just took him thirty more years to come back. Dave and his wife April bought Howard's in 1999 wanting to support Selah and invest in the community they have both been so involved in.
Because Howard's has been Howard's since 1958, we did not want to change the name. Plus if we named it Thome's, this is a much harder name to say. In case you want to know, Thome rhymes with home.
Today, Dave has been devoted to Howard's for over fifteen years and two of our other pharmacists are Dave's son Joel and his wife Laura.
Howard's is one of the few independent pharmacies left in the Yakima Valley and one of the reasons we have survived is our commitment to our customers and community. We will listen to you, use our expertise in helping your healthcare needs, and we have several extra healthcare options at our pharmacy including immunizations and flu shots, compounding, compliance packing (bubble packing), and a medical supply.
